Happy New Year!!

We're in London, watched some fire works, drank some champagne. Happy new years all, 2008 will be great!

(Update to last night's post)

In the picture above (left to right) is Alison, Kate, Katherine & Andrew. Alison is an ex-Amazonian and hosted the New Year's party and Kate works for Marks & Spencer. We had walked from Alison's flat down to the Thames, then a mile or so along the Thames to a bridge that we thought we'd be able to see the fireworks from. Turns out we were pretty much wrong, along with a couple hundred other people that were on the bridge with us. But we could see the reflection of fireworks off other buildings..and it was fun to be out with a crowd.

Woo Hoo, I'm blogging!

Ok, I've resisted the idea of blogging for quite a while, but Andrew & Katherine's blog is so much fun (http://anamericancoupleinlondon.blogspot.com/ ) that I've decided to try it out. Of course, it's helpful that I'm actually over in London, hanging out in their flat, so I get real time tech support as I stumble through it..

Now on to real content...you are here to keep an Eye on Rich, right? I landed in London yesterday and made my way to A&K's flat in Maida Vale via train, tube, and foot. Their place is really cool..you can see pics of it on their blog, I won't steal their thunder.

After some lunch we ventured out to the V & A (Victoria & Albert) Museum. I LOVE the fact that museums in London are free! Andy and I went to the British National in May when I was here, it's just fun to get a little bit of culture but not feel like you have to see every last exhibit in order to get your money's worth.

There was an outdoor ice rink set up, just for the holidays I guess, just across the street from the V&A. It was really pretty with the trees lit around it!

I like trying to take interesting pictures, this was an attempt. We were in the Ironworks exhibit, there was all kinds of crazy old wrought iron pieces, then this piece, commissioned in 1984. Of course, that's the one that I liked!

Our second pub stop for the evening. We walked about a mile through Notting Hill and had to stop periodically to fortify ourselves with a pint or two.

OK, signing off for now. What's the plan for today? It's New Year's Eve, I'm in London with two of my favorite people, life is good! Shopping, dinner, fireworks, and clubbing are all possibilities for the day...
